Can chiropractic help me?

The nervous system communicates with the body through the spinal cord. The messages sent from the brain through the spinal cord control all of the major functions in the body, including circulation, respiration, and digestion. Unlike modern medicine, which is used to treat the symptom, with chiropractic care, we seek to optimally align the spine, allowing the spinal cord to perform its functions freely without interference. When a vertebra is misaligned or in chiropractic terms, what we call a “subluxation” exists, the body’s natural functions can be affected and pain may also occur. A subluxation can affect all components of the human body including muscles, organs, bones, and nerves.

How do we get subluxations?

Subluxations can be caused by several types of stress like sitting or standing for long periods of time, working at a computer, driving, poor posture, as well as slip and falls and car accidents. When the subluxation is adjusted, the interference is often removed, and the body can perform and function more optimally.

What is the history of chiropractic?

Modern chiropractic was discovered in Davenport, Iowa by Dr. D.D. Palmer in 1895. Dr. Palmer performed the first spinal adjustment on his deaf janitor, Harvey Lillard. Lillard’s hearing returned, and Palmer realized he discovered a new method of care, as he was able to help patients with a variety of ailments including headaches, sciatica, and many other conditions.
